Wereldsterren dringen bij Braziliaanse president Bolsonaro aan op bestrijding bosbrandenn

Naast vele wereldleiders, dringen ook sterren aan bij de regering van Brazilië om de gigantische bosbranden in het Amazonegebied te bestrijden. Onder andere Leonardo DiCaprio, Cristiano Ronaldo en Madonna verzoeken president Jair Bolsonaro om maatregelen te nemen, zo schrijft De Telegraaf vandaag, vrijdag 23 augustus 2019.

'President Bolsonaro, verander alstublieft uw beleid en help niet alleen uw land, maar de hele planeet', schrijft Madonna op Instagram. 'We moeten wakker worden! De toekomst van het regenwoud beïnvloedt de toekomst van de wereld!'



Leonardo DiCaprio, die zich al jaren inzet voor de klimaatproblematiek, roept zijn volgers op om te doneren aan hulpgroepen in het gebied en in het vervolg te stemmen op leiders die wel inzien dat ’onze klimaatcrisis’ een groot probleem is. 'De longen van de aarde staan in brand', aldus de Hollywood-acteur.

Voetballer Cristiano Ronaldo wijst erop dat het niet slechts het probleem is van Brazilië. 'Het Amazone regenwoud produceert meer dan 20% van onze zuurstof en staat al drie weken in brand. Het is onze verantwoordelijkheid om te helpen onze planeet te redden', luidt zijn oproep.


Kris Jenner twittert: 'Dit is verwoestend! Voor mensenlevens, planten, dieren en onze planeet.'


Andere sterren als Camila Cabello en R&B-zanger Miguel zeggen: 'Bid niet voor de Amazone, bid voor jezelf', waarmee ze willen benadrukken wat de functie van het regenwoud is voor de aarde.
